Overview

Butterfly Dignics 09C is the tackier face of the Dignics family — a hybrid that pairs the line's high-tension Spring Sponge X with a topsheet that grips like a tacky rubber rather than floating like a clean spin sheet. In the terms our rubber guide uses, D09c sits in the mild-tack band: enough grip to spin heavily from short contact, without the slow, sticky character of a fully Chinese sheet.

That is the combination Butterfly built its current-generation flagship pairings around, and the one Fan Zhendong has made his own. Where a rubber like Dignics 05 excels on clean, full-contact spin, 09C is for the player who wants that extra bite on short strokes and on shots where the ball is taken slightly late — the ball is caught, then catapulted.

Feel & character

The topsheet's grip makes the short game the rubber's quiet strength: short pushes, serve returns and flicks come out low and controlled because the ball is held rather than skated. Open up into a full loop and the firm Spring Sponge X underneath turns that grip into deep, penetrating spin with a springy finish. The trade is that it rewards committed strokes and clean timing — and the surface is delicate, so treat it gently and keep it covered with the protective film when it is not in play. We stock the 2.1 mm sheet in red or black; the family and sponge story is covered in our Tenergy-before-Dignics guide.
