Butterfly Tenergy 05 is the rubber that set the modern benchmark for high-tension play — launched in 2008 and still the model every other performance rubber is measured against. It was the first to combine a clean, non-tacky topsheet tuned with the code No. 05 pimple shape with Butterfly's Spring Sponge, and that combination made heavy spin suddenly available from a relaxed, modern stroke.
That history matters less than what it still does: Tenergy 05 turns a decent loop into a deep, heavy one, and it does it with a forgiving, slightly springy feel that players of every style have come to recognise as simply "Tenergy".

Tenergy 05 is the easiest high-end spin rubber to live with. Its arc is high and safe, spin comes early even from brushes, and the ball stays on the topsheet just long enough that slightly late or slightly short swings still produce good balls. Against backspin it is famous for how easily it lifts — the stroke most intermediate players struggle with is exactly the one this rubber forgives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Tenergy 05 need boosting or tuning?
No. Tenergy 05 ships already tensioned from the factory, and boosting is not recommended: the oil softens the Spring Sponge the topsheet was tuned around, and it shortens the life of a sheet whose topsheet is already the delicate part.
Is Tenergy 05 better on the forehand or the backhand?
Either wing works, which is a large part of why it became the benchmark. Most players put it on the forehand for its spin, and it is forgiving enough to serve on the backhand as well.
Can amateur players handle Tenergy 05?
